🙏Prayers and Spiritual Guidance

To End Racism

O Lord our God, in your mercy and kindness, no thought of ours is left unnoticed, no desire or concern ignored. You have proven that blessings abound when we fall on our knees in prayer, and so we turn to you in our hour of need.

Surrounded by violence and cries for justice, we hear your voice telling us what is required, “Only to do justice and to love goodness, and to walk humbly with your God” (Mi 6:8). Fill us with your mercy so that we, in turn, may be merciful to others.

Strip away pride, suspicion, and racism so that we may seek peace and justice in our communities. Strengthen our hearts so that they beat only to the rhythm of your holy will. Flood our path with your light as we walk humbly toward a future filled with encounter and unity.

Be with us, O Lord, in our efforts, for only by the prompting of your grace can we progress toward virtue. We ask this through Jesus Christ our Lord.

Amen.

Prayer for Pride Month

God of all love, May we be reminded of the awesome love you have for each one of us. Help us to leave behind the hurt that we have endured because of cruelty from others. May we cling to the assurance of Your love for us; A love that is never-ending. Let us celebrate the unique gifts that have been given to each of us for our common journeys in life. You, O God, formed us in our mothers’ wombs. You consecrated us and appointed us to be a prophet among the nations. All of us have been created for a purpose, to be in relationship with our loving You and with one another. You love us all so much that even the hairs on our heads have been counted. You see our paths clearly and know first-hand the struggles that life can bring to us all. Help us to be a people of love and acceptance. May we do away with the harsh word and the clenched fist. May your will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Amen

ICE Memo RE: Affirming our Commitment to Equity, Diversity, and Inclusive School Communities

June is the month traditionally devoted to the Sacred Heart of Jesus, which for
Catholics is a sign and symbol of God’s boundless and passionate love for all
humanity. The month of June is also designated as PRIDE month in many communities across Ontario. This month, and each
and every month, our Catholic schools are committed to nurturing safe and
inclusive learning environments where every student and every member of the
community is welcomed, valued, and respected.

As Catholics, we believe that we are all made in the image and likeness of a God
who created us and loves us unconditionally – just as we are. We are called to
know, love and celebrate one another, just as God knows, loves and celebrates
each one of us because we are wonderfully made. We honour the inherent
dignity in each other by treating one another with sensitivity, compassion and
respect. (Institute for Catholic Education, May 19. 2020)

600+ Design Templates for Google Slides

If you are looking to add some pizzazz to your slide presentations for teaching, Eric Curtz provides links to several design templates for Google Slides.  My personal favourites are Slides Carnival and Slides Mania.  Currently, Google Slides only offers 23 basic design themes.  However, with these themes, you can be super creative!

So, if you are looking to create new material for your courses next year, you may find these slide designs helpful.

Google Keep - An Underestimated Google Tool

Google Keep is an organizational and productivity tool the is very versatile.  There are so many things you can do with Google Keep, for example:
  • To-do lists
  • Shopping lists
  • Note-taking
  • Colour-coding
  • Labelling
  • And so much more
You can collaborate on Google Keep notes with others and you can access your Google Keep notes in Google Docs.

Here is a great resource by Eric Curts on How to use Google Keep for Grading Comments in Google Docs

Canva.com

Canva is one of my favourite apps!!  It is a graphic design platform that allows you to create anything from posters to presentations to social media graphics.  They recently added the option to create Google Classroom Headers.  You can use Canva for your own personal creative projects, or have students use Canva to create projects as part of their final CPT.  There is so much they can create.

Class of 2020 Video

The graduation committee is putting together a "Class of 2020" video for our graduates.

Please submit a video or photo congratulatory messages you wish to share with our grade 12s before they embark on the next phase of their lives.  Perhaps you may wish to share some advice with our graduates for the future.  Whether you choose to make it comical or serious, be creative!

Here is what we are looking for:
  • a brief video or photo sharing a message (as was done in the teacher video we created at Easter)
  • if you choose to share a video message, please ensure that it is brief and that the video quality is clear (i.e. submit your video in mp4 format); creating your video using your cellphone will ensure the best picture and sound quality.
  • if you are choosing to create a videoplease record your video horizontally and in a quiet environment so that no background noises are heard
  • departments can choose to collaborate to create a unified message either in photo or video format
  • if you would like, you can also submit any photos, videos, artwork, etc. you may have of our grade 12 students throughout the years.
Please submit your messages HERE.

We would like all submissions no later than Monday, June 8th.

We will share the video with our graduates the week of Monday, June 22nd
