Week of May 25-29
🙏Prayers and Spiritual Guidance
Prayer of Solidarity
For all who have contracted coronavirus,
We pray for care and healing.
For those who are particularly vulnerable,
We pray for safety and protection.
For all who experience fear or anxiety,
We pray for peace of mind and spirit.
For affected families who are facing difficult decisions between food on the table or public safety,
We pray for policies that recognize their plight.
For those who do not have adequate health insurance,
We pray that no family will face financial burdens alone.
For those who are afraid to access care due to immigration status,
We pray for recognition of the God-given dignity of all.
For our brothers and sisters around the world,
We pray for shared solidarity.
For public officials and decisionmakers,
We pray for wisdom and guidance.
Father, during this time may your Church be a sign of hope, comfort and love to all.
Grant peace.
Grant comfort.
Grant healing.
Be with us, Lord.
Amen.

How to Be a Light in Darkness
Everytime we say "yes" to God, we bring the light of Christ to the darkness of this world.
Find the small moments in your day where you can start to say "yes" to being the light of Christ, and watch the light spread like wildfire. We are called to be a light in the darkness that pervades this world.
Laudato Si
Here is a video message from Pope Francis calling us to action to care God's creation of our planet and all the living organisms in it.

💻EdTech Support and Resources
The Power of Google Forms for Assessments
Google Forms is a great tool for many things, however, for teachers, it is an excellent tool for assessments.
Here are some helpful resources to help you become familiar with using Google Forms as a means of assessment:
How to Create Breakout Rooms with Google Meet
Here is a video and online resource to show you how to create breakout rooms and/or discussion groups during your synchronous 'live' learning lesson. What's great about this video is it will show you how to oversee all the discussion groups simultaneously. It will also introduce you to the Chrome extension, Mute Tab, which allows you to mute one Google Meet so you can hear another. (This is a super helpful extension to have at this time, especially since we may have two meetings happening at one time).
Google Drawings for Graphic Organizers
Google Drawings is a design tool whereby you can insert shapes, images, text boxes, hyperlinks, links, and more onto a blank canvas. You can also adjust the dimensions of your canvas to be any size you want.
Google Drawings is a great tool to create Graphic Organizers for students to demonstrate their learning.

Here are some additional graphic organizers created using Google Drawings

Novels, plays, graphic novels, non-fiction, and some French content.
If you are tired of the books you have in your house and you don't mind reading online, be sure to check this one out!
Teen Bookcloud is a database of eBooks. There are over 1000 specially-chosen books for teens and high school English curriculum -- literature, classics, novels, hi-low novels, graphic novels, and some non-fiction (American History and historical essays, mostly). Includes a decent collection of Canadian fiction. Pros: unlimited simultaneous access means one of these titles could be used as a whole-class text in an emergency. Visually appealing platform. Easy to navigate. Cons: not a huge collection.

🧠Staff Wellness
The feature story in the latest issue of OCT's Professionally Speaking magazine is on "Building Resilience" and a close look at teachers seeking ways to care for their mental well-being.
The article provides helpful advice, tips, and resources to help teachers cope with the stress of teaching, and more currently, distance teaching.
"Take one day at a time and learn to let go. 'Live in the present moment. Don't worry about tomorrow; it's too far." - Chantal Cote

Groundhog Day
Do you find that your days now seem all the same? Each day is "GROUDHOG DAY". The daily routine of each day can be, and possibly has already become, mundane. This surely doesn't negate the fact that we are busy, because WE ARE! However, there is very little difference that may separate one day to the next.
One way to escape the monotonous drone of every day is to practice gratitude. If you, or a loved one, has not been affected by the coronavirus, be thankful because you have been given the gift of tomorrow...another day to live on repeat!
